Prostate Cancer Proposed to be Added to World Trade Center Health Program Covered Cancers
Today the World Trade Center Health Program published a proposed rule for public comment that would add Prostate Cancer to the covered WTC Health Program Cancers .

The Administrator of the World Trade Center Health program, Dr. John Howard, made the determination to add Prostate Cancer to the covered conditions in response to a petition made by the New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) on May 2, 2013.
The determination was based on the recent publication of two more studies showing an increased risk of prostate cancer among WTC Responders and a review of other information on the toxicity of the exposures at the WTC.
The proposed rule will be available for public comment for 30 days, after which Dr. Howard would make a final determination based on the comments he received. 9/11 Responders and Survivors could start to receive treatment for Prostate Cancer by the end of the summer.
