Benefit Fundraiser in Support of 911 Health Watch Inc.
The 21st Anniversary Commemoration Benefit fundraiser to support 911 Health Watch Inc. will be held in person this year on Thursday, September 29th , 2022. 911 Health Watch monitors the implementation of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act.
911 Health Watch works to make sure that injured and ill 9/11 responders and survivors are properly cared for during their lifetime, but we can only succeed in that mission with your support.
Our honorees this year have gone above and beyond to advocate for 911 responders and survivors.
Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
Senator Chuck Schumer has been instrumental over the years in fighting for injured and ill 9/11 responders and survivors. He ensured the passage of the James Zadroga 911 Health and Compensation Act in 2010, the reauthorization of the World Trade Center Health Program in 2015, and the reauthorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund in 2019. Throughout his tenure, Senator Schumer makes sure our heroes and survivors get the care that they need.
Mario Cilento
Mario Cilento has a long history of fighting for working men and women. His work at the New York State AFL-CIO began in 1992; he was elected president in 2011. Mario Cilento has been a tireless advocate in Washington and Albany. Everyday throughout the years he ensures that the members of the New York State AFL-CIO and Survivors know the health benefits and compensation that are available to them because of the James Zadroga Health and Compensation Act.
Rupa Bhattacharyya
Rupa Bhattacharyya served as the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Special Master from July 2016 until she stepped down in April 2022 when she retired after 27 years of career civil service. Under Bhattacharyya’s leadership, the VCF significantly reduced the time it takes to review and decide a claim and awarded over $8 billion in compensation to more than 35,000 responders and survivors who have become sick or died because of their exposure to 9/11 toxins. Bhattacharyya helmed the program when a bipartisan Congress reauthorized the VCF in 2019 to accept claims until 2090 and appropriated to it such funds as may be necessary to pay all eligible claims, thus ensuring both the program’s financial stability and that it would remain operational to assist victims of the 9/11 terror attacks for decades to come
The Event will be in person, COVID restrictions permitting.
